These are my demands of the universe. It’s not a wish list. It’s not list of stuff you can get me for my birthday. As a knitter and crocheter and spinner who regularly gives her beautiful creations away (I gotta stop that) I feel entitled to these things. All of these things. Immediately.
I’ll skip over needles, and hooks, and yarn. Those are a) boring and b) if you’re reading this blog you have those, and c) you know where to get more. This is stuff you only realize you need when you find that you don’t have them. After all, if my rotten house cat can get every little desire fulfilled, why can’t I have:
- A knitting notion delivery service. When you need a tapestry needle and can’t seem to find any of the sixteen that you KNOW you own, you should be able to call up someone and have it delivered. Like a pizza. In 20 minutes or less. Like a pizza. Just imagine, tape measures and stitch markers delivered to your door at 8:30 in the evening. If it came with an actual pizza that would be awesome too.
- A handmade yarn bowl for each and every WIP. No more sharing.
- A stash of Tanglewood yarns. I know I said I’d skip over the yarn but this is not yarn, it’s TANGLEWOOD. What’s the difference? About $180 a skein. That’s not yarn, that’s hand-dyed, hand spun cashmere/silk heaven. I’d like a whole stash of it. Please.
- A truck that drives around, full of yarn and you can buy it. No that’s real. It’s not like the knitting notions delivery service which should be real. There are mobile yarn shops like the Yarnover Truck. But there are none in Austin Texas which is where I need them to be. What’s that about? We Austin area crafters deserve to have yummy yarns driven right to our greedy hands don’t we? I know I do.
- A lifetime supply of Hacienda La Esmeralda coffee. The more coffee I have the faster I knit. With $100 a pound coffee, I bet I could knit really freaking fast. It’s the most expensive coffee you can buy (I think) that did not go through the digestive track of a small mammal. I’m sure those feces-processed beans are very nice and all, but I’ll settle for my Hacienda La Esmeralda from Panama.
I’ll stop there. I wouldn’t want to get greedy.
